Jesus disciples - 12 disciples of Jesus

Who were Jesus’ 12 Original Disciples?

In the Gospels, he is mentioned in three places, but only to list his name.

They are commonly identified with the seventy-two seventy, according to the received Greek text, although several Greek manuscripts mention seventy-two, as does the Vulgate referred to Luke 10:1 as having been chosen by Jesus.

Yet, people call him Thomas.

Church tradition has always assumed these were two names for the same person, with Thaddeus being a nickname for the disciple known as Judas, perhaps because the name Judas carried such strong negative associations.

Historical sources indicate that Matthias spread the gospel on the shores of the Caspian.

Like Simon Peter, some scholars doubt John was the writer of the Gospel of John and 1, 2, and 3 John, but there is enough evidence to show that he did write them.

Description: In Summary Scripture tells us of men and women of faith who surrendered their life to Christ.

The 12 Disciples also known as the 12 Apostles, served as the foundation of the first Church. They played a major role in ministering to the people during Jesus’ time on earth, and after his ascension. While with Jesus, they learned from him and helped him to fulfill his mission here, on earth.

They both were on a boat fixing their nets with their father when Jesus called them to follow Him so they could become fishers of men. John along with his brother dropped everything and immediately followed Jesus ( Matthew 4:21-22 ).

In Luke 10, we read that Jesus entered the house of Martha, and she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said. To sit at the feet of a rabbi meant you were a disciple of that rabbi. 3 Mary had neglected to fulfill the role of a woman and had taken the role of a man! Luke says Martha was distracted by all.
